Getting started checklist

Just signed up? Work through these steps in order and you'll go from a fresh account to a live, secure site with email and backups.

  1. Find your way around

    Log in to the client area and open cPanel. Client area and cPanel tour

  2. Turn on two-factor authentication

    Protect both logins before you put anything on the account. The tour above covers where to find it.

  3. Connect your domain

    Point your domain's nameservers at Dredge. Connect a domain

  4. Put your site live

    Pick one: install WordPress, move an existing WordPress site, or upload your own files.

  5. Check HTTPS

    Make sure every page shows the padlock. Turn on HTTPS everywhere

  6. Set up email

    Create a mailbox, or forward mail to an inbox you already use. Email on your domain · Email forwarding

  7. Keep email out of spam

    Check your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. Stop email going to spam

  8. Take your first backup

    Download a copy of everything so you have a restore point. Back up and restore
